Jaeger-LeCoultre in three of the most important Polo Tournament

Last 29th of August, concluded the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup in Santa Maria Polo Club, with presence of more than 4000 spectators, with an exciting final where the team “Taittinger – Dos Lunas” won against all bet to “Las Monjitas” team for 10 to 11 with a golden goal in the additional chukker.

During all the encounter, “Las Monjitas” team led the polo match, thanks to the Jaeger-LeCoultre polo ambassador, Eduardo Novillo Astrada’s brilliant game, being always ahead on the scoreboard until the very last time of the match, where “Taittinger – Dos Lunas” team achieved to tie the match in a spectacular surmount. Finally, Gonzalo Pieres achieved the victory for “Taittinger – Dos Lunas” team after his golden goal in the additional chukker.

The “Taittinger – Dos Lunas” polo players celebrated their victory while receiving the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup from the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Director for Spain, Jacques Thomas. With the Tournament Final, the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique specially opened for the Polo Tournament in “Los Pinos” commercial area closes its doors. During the month, this boutique has been visited for many Jaeger-LeCoultre collectors and High Watchmaking lovers.

The Gold Cup of the International Polo Tournament of Sotogrande celebrates its XXXVIII edition as one of the international important tournaments for high handicap professional polo players. As a sponsor of the Gold Cup for the three year in a row, the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre becomes one of the main actors in the polo world, sponsoring the best polo tournaments and polo players like Adolfo Cambiaso and Eduardo Novillo Astrada, one of the best players in this edition of Sotogrande Tournament.

The Guests. Guests enjoyed a beautiful sunny day in London’s countryside and were treated with a Lanson Champagne cocktail, followed by an Argentinean lunch.

Fabio Capello, England´s soccer team coach and friend of Jaeger-LeCoultre, took a relaxing day-off after the recent matches of the World Cup qualification. He was wearing his favourite watch: a Jaeger-LeCoultre Squadra World Chronograph.

Special guests included Princess Beatrice and Dave Clark, Yasmin Le Bon, wearing a Jaeger-LeCoultre Lady Jewellery and her daughter Amber Le bon, Pipa Middleton, Astrid Harbord, Henry Conway, Olivia Inge, Marissa Montgomery, Elizabeth Von Guttman, Alexia Niedzielski and Veronica Echegui.

The Matches. Polo legends – the Reverso Squadra by Jaeger-LeCoultre and the best professionals polo players – joined their forces in raising funds in a day dedicated to sport and humanitarian values. 

The first exhibition was a ladies match, featuring Jaeger-LeCoultre brand ambassadors: British marchioness Clare Milford Haven and Argentinean Lia Salvo both wearing their Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Squadra Lady.

A close match, in which Jaeger-LeCoultre White beat Jaeger-LeCoultre Purple team 6-3.
Nina Clarkin, UK best polo player, was named MVP.

In the afternoon, another gentlemen polo game followed, featuring the world best polo player and Jaeger-LeCoultre brand ambassador, Adolfo Cambiaso. He was of course wearing his Reverso Squadra watch !  The opposite team was lead by Argentinean professional Lolo Castagnola. His team partner Rachid Albwardy was also wearing his favourite Reverso Squadra home time. 

The game was a hard fought and a fast moving battle between which ended in a 2-2 tie.

During the next weekend, Jaeger-LeCoultre, will be in the France Polo Cup. Some of the most important polo player of France and Argentine will be participating in the tournament.
