"El Cuenco de las Ciudades Mestizas”, a mid-lenght film, shot in Cuartel V, was recently awarded by the festival [*see below], which took place in Saladillo city. The film competed against more than 40 other productions from the rest of the country, all very high quality, great casts and supported by several institutions. “El Cuenco…” is a fantastic story, played by city residents, with digital animations and music, sets and special effects created at “El Culebrón Timbal”, which is part of a multi-media combo with a comic book, a rock and roll album and a table game. The filmmakers, the independent production company Escuela Cultural Comunitaria, pointed that this award is product of “all the actors hard work, studio crew, musicians, assistants, digital animation crew, make up artists and residents that helped this dream to be a collective, deep and giving vision”. Besides, “this movie was possible thanks to the help of several community organizations from our town, integrants of the movement “Movimiento por la carta popular”, who fight for a participative democracy”.

The producer highlighted the festival organizers work, Fabio Junco and Julio Midú, and thank everyone who was involved in the film, as well as the group “Esperanza Joven” [“Young Hope”], who brought actors; the young men and women from the art school “Escuela de Arte y Comunicación de El Culebrón Timbal”; the film director Alexis Fusario; Mariel Rosciano, Nahuel Croza and Eduardo Morales; and very specially to all Cuartel V residents, who “put up with kindness and hope this creative madness shot during the nights between Cruce Derqui, horses, kings, gunshots and carriages”.

On December 20th El Culebrón Timbal will be a part of “La Caravana Cultural por los Barrios de Buenos Aires”, starting at 10 am in Mataderos, finishing at Plaza España, Barracas, at around 11 pm.

*The festival “Cine con vecinos” under the motto “Images and stories of a country and its people” took place in Saladillo city in a quest to find an authentic local film making style that involves a diversity of cultures, just as Fabio Junco and Silvio Midú, the organizers like to say. The festival, which goes on for five days, is sponsored by the city government, the INCAA [National Academy of Film Making], the Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires Province, the National Cultural Department, the Filmmaking Industry Union [SICA] and Escuela Tea Imagen.

More than 40 films from all over the country have participated in this edition of the festival; and several side activities where held, such as seminaries and conferences about digital films and scripts, at the Club Social Saladillo, by Santiago Carlos Oves Silvana Jarmoluk y Rodolfo Hermida. In this opportunity the jury was formed by filmmakers Juan José Jusid, Clara Zappettini, Carolina Silvestre [vicepresident of INCAA], Néstor Montalbano and Nicolás Batlle.
